THE STACK

The Solana Memecoin Trader's Stack

Terminal handles execution. It generates keys but does not store them for you, it will not file your taxes on a thousand swaps, and it cannot see the half of your portfolio that lives somewhere else. These are the tools that fill those gaps, and the cases where you should skip each one.

This site contains referral and affiliate links. When you sign up to Terminal through our link, and when you buy through partner links such as hardware wallets, VPNs, or tax software, we earn a commission at no extra cost to you. That commission never changes what you pay, and it does not decide what makes the list. We only recommend tools we would use ourselves, and we say plainly who each one is wrong for. Nothing here is financial advice.

How should I secure a Terminal account?

Terminal is non-custodial, so the keys it generates are the actual attack surface. Export the seed phrase, store it offline, and keep the wallet you trade memecoins with separate from the one holding anything you care about.

trezor logoTrezor$49 - $169

Open-source firmware and a Secure Element on the Safe models. Holds the long-term stack that should never touch a trading terminal.

Best for
Anyone who wants auditable firmware and does not mind a slightly rougher desktop app.
Skip it
You need broad mobile Bluetooth support. That is Ledger territory.
ledger logoLedger$79 - $399

The default hardware wallet for a reason: the widest wallet-app support, Bluetooth on the Nano X and Flex, and clean Phantom and Solflare pairing.

Best for
Traders who sign from a phone or want the smoothest Phantom pairing.
Skip it
Closed-source firmware is a dealbreaker for you.

How do I file taxes on memecoin trading?

Volume is the problem, not complexity. An active month on a Solana terminal can produce thousands of small swaps, each one a disposal, and most tax software chokes long before it reaches your actual gain.

koinly logoKoinlyFree - $279/yr

Connect a Solana address and it pulls swaps and transfers without a CSV. Supports 20+ countries, not just the US.

Best for
Most traders, and anyone filing outside the United States.
Skip it
Your year is a handful of trades, and the free tier may cover you outright.
coinledger logoCoinLedger$49 - $299/yr

The simplest interface of the group, with TurboTax and TaxAct export built in. Preview your full gain/loss report before paying.

Best for
US filers who want to hand a finished 8949 to TurboTax and be done.
Skip it
You file outside the US or run heavy DeFi activity across many chains.
cointracking logoCoinTrackingFree - $65/mo

Built for volume. Handles hundreds of thousands of transactions and 13 costing methods, which is the bar an active memecoin year actually sets.

Best for
High-frequency traders and bot operators whose trade count breaks other tools.
Skip it
You want a modern UI. This one is dense and dated.

How do I track a portfolio across wallets?

Terminal shows you the wallets you trade from. If you also hold on a CEX, farm elsewhere, or run several wallets on purpose, you need something that stitches the whole picture together.

nansen logoNansenFree - $999/mo

On-chain intelligence with wallet labels. Useful for checking who is actually behind a token before you size into it.

Best for
Traders who build a thesis from on-chain flow rather than price alone.
Skip it
You trade off charts and Terminal's own wallet tracking already covers you.
coinstats logoCoinStatsFree - $14/mo

Portfolio tracker that ties exchange accounts and on-chain wallets into one balance, with mobile apps and alerting.

Best for
Anyone whose net worth is scattered across several wallets and a CEX.
Skip it
Everything you own already sits in the wallets Terminal shows you.

Which Solana trading tools are free?

Most of what a memecoin trader needs costs nothing, starting with a large amount of what Terminal already ships. Nothing in this section pays us anything, which is the point of listing it separately from the cards above.

  • Terminal's own safety panel. Bundle analysis, dev and insider holding percentages, dev funding source, fresh-wallet buys, bot transaction detection, a freeze-authority warning and token tax display, all free and all on the token page. On Ethereum and Base it adds an EVA Audit contract check; on other EVM chains it defers to honeypot.is. Which of those actually matter is covered in the Trenches guide.
  • Our fee calculator stacks the 1% Terminal fee on the venue fee underneath and shows the round-trip cost on your own trade size, plus the dollar value of 35% cashback against 10%.
  • GeckoTerminal is free and is what powers the price and liquidity data on our market pages. Terminal has no public API, so there is nothing to pay for on that side either.
  • Kolscan still runs free at kolscan.io. pump.fun acquired it in July 2025 and said the service would stay free. Worth knowing that despite constant claims otherwise it does not power Terminal's wallet tracking, which is Padre's own and integrates Cielo Finance.
  • Solscan and DexScreener cost nothing and are the fastest way to sanity check a transaction or a pool outside the app you traded in.

The Stack Only Pays Off If the Account Does

Everything above exists to support the account itself. Terminal charges the same 1% either way, but cashback is 10% if you sign up cold and 35% through a referral link, and that is decided at signup.
