Terminal,
explained properly.

Terminalpedia is an independent reference site with no relationship to pump.fun or to Terminal. That is the point: it is what lets us write down what the live app does rather than what a marketing page says. The flat 1% fee and what it stacks on top of. The slippage default that quietly costs small traders money. How the wallets and keys actually work. And where the official documentation went, since it is no longer readable by anyone. Terminal is the memecoin trading terminal that was called Padre until October 2025, which is why the app changed its name and almost nothing else.

Not affiliated with, produced by or endorsed by pump.fun or Terminal. We earn a referral commission and say so on every page. Nothing here is legal, tax or financial advice. Details.

What is Terminal?

Terminal is a browser-based trading terminal for memecoins, owned by pump.fun. It began life as Padre, an independent multi-chain terminal, and pump.fun acquired it on 24 October 2025 and renamed it. Nothing was rebuilt. As of 6 August 2026, terminal.pump.fun and trade.padre.gg serve the same JavaScript bundle down to the filename, which is the clearest proof available that they are one application behind two addresses. Our Padre to Terminal explainer covers the rename in full.

The app charges a flat 1% trading fee, read straight from the production bundle, and there are no volume tiers. No discount table exists in the code or in any version of the documentation, so a $50 trade pays the same rate as a $50,000 one. On pump.fun bonding-curve tokens, pump.fun's own 1.25% fee applies on top, which is the part most fee comparisons leave out. We work a full round trip in the fees guide.

Wallets are non-custodial. Keys are generated and held through Turnkey, the key infrastructure built by Coinbase's custody team, and encrypted with a password Terminal never stores. There is no seed phrase, only a private key per wallet, and there is no password reset flow at all. That combination surprises people, so we wrote it up in custody and private keys. The live chain selector covers Solana, Ethereum, Base, BNB Chain and Robinhood Chain, which is one more than the marketing copy claims. For the full product surface, order types included, read what Terminal is.

DECIDED ONCE, AT SIGNUP

Why is cashback 35% through a referral link and 10% without one?

The 1% fee is the same for everyone. What a referral link changes is how much of it comes back to you. Sign up directly and Terminal pays 10% cashback on the fees you generate. Sign up through a referral link and the rate is 35%. It is paid in SOL, it accrues on every trade, and you claim it yourself from the Rewards page.

The rate is bound to your account the moment you sign up and cannot be changed later. There is no code to enter afterward and no support ticket that fixes it. That is the whole argument for using a link, and it is the only reason this page pushes one. How the referral works has the mechanics.

Open Terminal with 35% Cashback

Sourcing: the 35% referred rate is confirmed in live in-app copy. The 10% default is from archived Padre documentation captured in early 2026 and we have not been able to re-verify it in the current app, so treat the floor as unconfirmed. We earn 35% of the fees generated by people who sign up through our link, which is why the link is here.

NEW TO TERMINAL

Where should you start with Terminal?

Four steps, and the order matters. Two of them are things you cannot undo later: your cashback rate is fixed at signup, and a wallet whose key you never exported is gone if you forget the password.

If you would rather have the whole thing in one sitting, the first trade walkthrough runs from signup to a filled order, and deposits and withdrawals covers getting money back out again.

1

What are you actually signing up for?

Terminal is Padre under a new name, and the confusion around that is the reason half the search results look alarming. Start with Terminal (formerly Padre), then read what Terminal is if you want the full product surface.

2

Who holds your wallet keys?

Terminal generates non-custodial wallets through Turnkey and gives you a private key per wallet, not a seed phrase. There is no password reset, so exporting keys is not optional. Custody and private keys covers what that means in practice.

3

What is Terminal's default slippage?

The normal UI starts you at 20% slippage. Traders on small sizes have watched money vanish into it and assumed the app was broken. The 20% slippage trap explains what to change and why setting it too low fails differently.

4

How do you lock in the 35% cashback rate?

Cashback is set at signup and never again, so this is the one step you cannot redo. Then work through your first trade and the Trenches feed.

LIVE DATA

Which assets do our market pages cover?

Terminal routes orders across five chains to independent venues including pump.fun, PumpSwap, Uniswap and Aerodrome. Those are separate protocols built by unrelated teams, not Terminal products. Our markets section tracks prices for a curated set of Solana assets, with a chart on every page.

HONEST CAVEATS

Who should not use Terminal?

We make money when people sign up, so it is worth being blunt about who should not. These are the things we would want to know before creating an account.

  • You want a phone app. Terminal is a progressive web app you install from the browser, and there is no native iOS or Android build. Mobile sign-in is a QR code scanned from desktop.
  • You want to build on an API. There is no public or developer API, no keys, and no webhooks. Every service marketing itself as a “pump.fun API” is a third party with no affiliation.
  • You want a recovery path. There is no forgot-password flow. Your keys are encrypted with a password Terminal does not hold, so losing it means losing the wallets unless you exported the keys first.
  • You want responsive support. Help is a Discord ticket. The public announcement channel went silent in October 2025 and the documentation site now redirects to a login wall, so there is no status page to check when something breaks.
  • Raw execution speed is your only criterion. In user reports comparing the two, Terminal draws consistent criticism for filling slower than Axiom, and a few traders say they do not trust its PnL numbers. We cover that in Terminal vs Axiom, and our sister site Axiompedia covers the other side of that comparison.

Worth weighing against all that: the custody model is genuinely good, the Trenches feed is the strongest discovery surface in this category, and the order types go well beyond market buys. Also read our take on the safety scanners that rate padre.gg and trade.padre.gg differently despite being the same company.

Set Your Cashback Rate Before You Trade

Terminal pays cashback on your trading fees in SOL, and its live in-app copy advertises up to 35% for accounts created through a referral link. The rate is fixed when the account is made. The 1% trading fee is the same either way.

ONE DECISION YOU CANNOT REDO

Set your cashback rate before you trade

Terminal charges everyone the same 1%. The only variable is how much of it comes back, and that is decided by whether a referral code was stored in your browser when you signed up. Ours pushes it from 10% to 35%, paid in SOL on every trade.
